Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cognac has unveiled three new expressions crafted to capture the essence of Cognac as it was centuries ago.

Sazerac de Forge XO consists of selected eaux-de-vie to showcase a blend that is 86 proof and includes Cognacs aged for over two decades in French oak barrels. As the flagship expression from domaine, the XO bottle features a rounded silhouette of clear glass that showcases the spirit’s golden hue. A natural cork stopper with a wooden cap and a satin blue ribbon, resurrecting the ‘Sazerac Blue’ hue once stamped on chinaware exported worldwide from the original Sazerac de Forge pottery house.

The first vintage release from Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cognac, Grande Champagne 2000 represents over two decades of maturation in the soils of Cognac’s most celebrated cru. Distilled from a single harvest and matured in French oak barrels without blending, it is bottled at 89.6 proof. The bottle, made of clear glass with a curved silhouette and natural cork stopper, is complemented by a matching carton detailed in cream and blue with gold accents.

An blend of three rare vintage eaux-de-vie distilled in 1970, 1971, and 1974, Sazerac de Forge 50-Year-Old is the domaine’s oldest expression to date. Each vintage was hand-sealed in wax and left undisturbed for more than fifty years in small French oak barrels before being blended and bottled at 86 proof. The decanter, formed from curved crystal glass with a matching lid and the Sazerac de Forge family crest etched in gold, pays homage to the original Cognac domaine.

“At Sazerac de Forge, every expression is crafted with care to showcase the unique character of its carefully selected eaux-de-vie,” says Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cellar Master Denis Lahouratate. “Our blends are patiently shaped over time, developing complexity and depth. Others are released as vintages, capturing their singular qualities. In every case, the goal is the same: a Cognac that reveals individuality and artistry.”

“Cognac’s richness lies not only in flavor, but also in the generations of knowledge behind its craft,” adds Jess Scheerhorn, Vice President, Sazerac de Forge. “We created these expressions for those who seek to experience Cognac the way it was originally intended in 1782.”

Revived in 2019 by, owners of Buffalo Trace Distillery and Hawk’s Rock Distillery, Sazerac de Forge & Fils carries forward the legacy of the 1782 domaine founded by Bernard Sazerac de Forge. The pioneering house earned a reputation for refinement, shipping Cognac across Europe and America and lending its name to the famed Sazerac cocktail of New Orleans before fading in the late 19th century during the phylloxera epidemic. Today’s domaine cultivates its estate in Segonzac, the heart of Grande Champagne, using organic practices and a diversity of grape varietals. Beyond the estate, it curates rare, aged stocks from across the region, inspired by the methods and character of pre-phylloxera Cognacs.

Sazerac de Forge XO is now available for $149.99. Sazerac de Forge Grande Champagne 2000 is available for $449.99. Sazerac de Forge 50-Year-Old is available now for $3,999.99.

2024 marks the 300th anniversary for the House of Rémy Martin. To celebrate, the House will connect past, present and future with a year of special activities around the theme ‘We Dream Forward’ and the release of its 300th Anniversary Coupe.

This special release was created by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau (seen above) from the Rémy Martin “Réserve Perpétuelle”, a collection of exceptional eaux-de-vie exclusively from the Grande Champagne terroir, saved and passed forward by generations of Cellar Masters. Located in the center of the Cognac region, Grande Champagne is known for the exceptional aromatic quality and aging potential of its eaux-de-vie.

For the 300th Anniversary Coupe, Loiseau drew on the previous Coupe of the 290th Anniversary (which was enhanced by the eaux-de-vie from the 275th Anniversary Coupe) and enriched this collective work with its own selection of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. His creation forges a link between past and present; between generations of talent always dreaming forward.

“The perpetual reserve is as much a process as a legacy. When a new blend is created, part of it is set aside for future cellar masters. In turn, they will use it for the next Anniversary Coupe,” says Baptiste Loiseau, Cellar Master of the House of Rémy Martin. “To create the 300th Anniversary Coupe, I have come to enrich this blend the treasures of our cellars and Grande Champagne terroir, which will be the legacy I leave to the next generation. By reserving some eaux-de-vie from this precious Coupe 300th Anniversary, the story will continue for future generations.”

Inspired by the iconic shape of the 250th Anniversary Coupe created in 1974, the glass carafe is enhanced with embossed lines, symbolizing the forward motion of the Rémy Martin Centaur’s javelin, the emblem of the House since 1870. The carafe is presented in a bespoke wooden case containing a special note from the Cellar Master and a unique QR code to access exclusive digital content on www.RemyMartin.com.

Available for pre-order now and in stores in March, only 6,724 individually numbered bottles of Rémy Martin’s 300th Anniversary Coupe will be released worldwide – 1,000 of those available in the U.S.

Launching a new cognac brand is not easy–even if your domaine (our house) has made it for some of the biggest brands in the world. However, guided by legacy and providence, two cousins recently launched Martingale Cognac.

Rooted in a century of tradition and and inspired by their family’s shared vision, Martingale was created by Founder/CEO Guillaume Thomas and Co-Founder and Master Blender Amaury Thomas, fourth-generation custodians of one of the most coveted domaines in the Cognac appellation. The Thomas cousins invited Andrew Weir, Co-Founder, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, on this journey to double down on the family legacy. Martingale marks the first ever branded consumer product from this esteemed domaine, despite their century-long history of making the finest Cognac for some of the most prestigious houses.

Guillaume, who spent 18 years in executive leadership roles within Pernod Ricard, was inspired to launch this venture to fulfill his family dream. “Our grandfather, Raymond, was a restless visionary and true entrepreneur,” says Martingale Cognac Founder/CEO Guillaume Thomas. “He was an important figure in the history of Cognac having helped sustain the protected status of the appellation through the post-war era. When faced with obstacles, instead of backing down, he doubled down and found his own martingale, his own recipe for success: hard work, genuine relationships, skills, and craft in Cognac making. We now have everything we need and while my while my grandfather didn’t get to embark on this journey, he was entrusting us as the next generation to create an exceptional Cognac from our own estate. It’s important for us to make our family proud and we embrace the new challenge and expectation to do just that.”

“We supply some of the most prestigious brands in Cognac and have built one of the most coveted vineyards and distilleries in the region,” adds Martingale Cognac Co-Founder and Master Blender Amaury Thomas, an agricultural engineer who has spent over a decade managing the family operations in Cognac. “In honor of my grandfather and our family’s ongoing success in Cognac, we have decided to select some of our finest eaux-de-vie to blend, brand and bottle for the very first time. Our grandfather always encouraged us to be bold and creative. To honor that, we have artfully selected and balanced eaux-de-vie from the top four crus in the area, ultimately creating a unique blend that is tailored to the tastes of this generation; one which delivers a fresher and more fragrant style of Cognac.”

With an innate entrepreneurial spirit, Weir’s hard work paved the way for this unique collaboration. With over 15 years of marketing and general management of building luxury spirits brands like Aberlour in the US, he shares his enthusiasm for Martingale, “This exceptional Cognac has certainly excited me and will energize the industry and consumers alike. Compared to other spirits categories such as premium whiskies and tequila, Cognac has seen relatively lower levels of innovation. Martingale is uniquely placed to augment and disrupt this iconic category. In my experience leading marketing plans and business growth for luxury spirits, I’ve always been drawn to genuine stories. Martingale’s story is quite incredible, from the vineyards to the distillery, the family chateau, and their obsession with quality. I love the paradox of a 100-year-old producer releasing their first ever product with a fresh, creative, and unexpected take. I am incredibly excited for us to share this story and exceptional liquid with the world.”

Through the family’s initial investment and the strength of the business plan, Martingale has garnered the attention of investors like D-Nice, Donnie Wahlberg and more. “Our motivated team and extended family of investors has shown an enormous level of confidence in the opportunity we have before us. We have created a global alliance of passionate individuals eager to embark on this exciting new chapter. This year, my grandfather’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit will be recognized on a whole new level with the unveiling of Martingale,” adds Guillaume.

Martingale Cognac is available now for $120.
